There are a number of actions that must occur during your time as a student here. The table below provides details.

Schedule an entrance visit with Director of Soil Science Graduate Programs | Soon after arrival | Student responsible for scheduling appointment with Dr. Mike Mullen, 3401 Williams Hall |
Patent Agreement (complete online) | By the end of first semester of residency | Initiated by student online via Student Self-Services in MyPack Portal. |
Appointment of Advisory Committee | During first semester of course work or no later than when 12 hours of course work completed | Initiated by student with Advisor and approved and submitted to the Graduate School by Director of Graduate Programs |
File proposed Graduate Plan of Work | During first semester of course work or no later than when 12 hours of course work completed | Initiated by student with Advisor and approved and submitted to the Graduate School by Director of Graduate Programs |
Register for Seminar (SSC 601 or SSC 801) | During or before third semester in residence | Student |
Assignment of Graduate School Representative (Doctoral students) | After the advisory committee has been approved by the Graduate School | Appointed by the Graduate School |
Preliminary (Doctoral) oral examination | No later than one semester prior to final oral examination and after written preliminary examination has been completed successfully. Request for Approval to Schedule Doctoral Oral Examination must be received by the Graduate School at least 10 working days prior to proposed examination date | Initiated by student and submitted to the Director of Graduate Programs for transmittal to the Graduate School |
Report on preliminary oral examination (Doctoral) | Immediately after preliminary oral examination is completed | Submitted to Director of Graduate Programs for transmittal to the Graduate School |
